About this book
Two elderly women, one Dutch and one German, meet by chance at the Thermal Institute in the famous spa town of Spa. What they do not yet realise is that they are twins who were separated in childhood. Lotte, who has become thoroughly Dutch in her ways and who sheltered Jewish people in hiding during the war, is initially extremely wary of her long-lost twin sister, but Anna’s stories force her to confront the flip side of her own reality: the suffering endured by ordinary Germans during the war.
