About this book
The labyrinth – one of the greatest and most enigmatic mysteries – has existed for many thousands of years and is found all over the world. It stands out as a vital symbol of initiation and inner renewal for both the individual and society. This book outlines the mythological background of the labyrinth and explores, in a captivating manner, essential themes such as the goddess in the labyrinth, the labyrinths at Knossos and in Chartres Cathedral.
The central theme is the labyrinth as a timeless symbol of personal initiation, which can aid self-knowledge, the bringing to a close of life stages and inner order. As Verbrugge points out, the labyrinth helps one to rediscover one’s deepest identity.
