About J. Kessels. Not everyone realises that he actually exists. Thomése got to know him on the sports desk at *Het Nieuwsblad van het Zuiden*, where the two friends discovered they shared a love of film, country music and the books of Charles Bukowski. J. Kessels still lives and smokes in Tilburg-Noord, just under the railway line. He lives alone and has a ten-year-old daughter.
